Our Rooms

Baby Room (For children up to 24 months)

Our Baby Room has been intentionally designed and equipped to suit the needs of our very youngest children. There is a generous amount of space, so children have the freedom to safely explore their environment as they become increasingly mobile.

The ratio of staff to babies is 1:3

Our large, air-conditioned baby room is divided into 4 areas:

  • A dedicated partitioned off sleeping area with cots, individual clean bedding, and sleep alarms. We follow the children’s normal sleep patterns and Nursery Staff are always present in the sleeping area when children are sleeping.
  • A carpeted area for babies who are less mobile or are starting to crawl.
  • A further easy to clean play area for children who are more mobile and are starting to walk. Toys and play equipment are accessible at a low level so children can make their own choices. This area is also used at mealtimes so all children and Nursery Staff can come together to eat.
  • A separate toilet room with small toilets and sinks, potty training area and a nappy changing area.

Toys and play equipment throughout are specifically chosen to be age and stage appropriate. Our staff follow what we call the C’s (cuddles, care, and comfort). We provide a home from home environment where children use their own imagination learning through play and are also lead through fun activities by our Nursery Staff.

Toddler Room (2 year old)

Our large open plan air-conditioned toddler room has direct access onto our secure outdoor balcony.

The ratio of staff to children is 1:4

The room follows the same colour scheme as the baby room to assist with transition and settling in period for our babies.

Centrally the room has several large tables where children can participate in adult lead activities, such as making craft items or exploring textures and colours through messy play.

The tables also offer a focal point where children and staff can sit together at mealtimes.

The room is divided into zones providing many focal points to encourage free imaginative play and explore the prime areas of learning.

  • Quiet area with soft cushions to relax, look at books and chill out.
  • Home corner to encourage role play and friendship building.
  • Construction area.
  • Sand, water and creative play.
  • Ball pool.
  • Small world area.
  • Circle time, getting together area.

Children have access to a separate toilet room with small toilets and sinks.

The room also offers a pop-up rest area with day beds and blankets for children that need a nap time.

Pre-School Room (3-5 years)

Our Pre-School room is our largest room, again it is open plan and air- conditioned.

The ratio of staff to children is 1:8

The room follows the same layout style as the toddler room, this helps with the transition and settling in period for our toddlers. As in the toddler room the Pre-School room has direct access onto our secure outdoor balcony.

Similar to the toddler room, centrally there are several large tables where children can participate in adult lead activities, such as making craft items or exploring textures and colours through messy play. Additionally, Nursery Staff can engage in more focused one to one activities in preparation for the move up to School.

Children all sit together at mealtimes and although Nursery Staff are there to help, children are encouraged to eat independently and serve themselves with drinks and some items food.

The room is divided into zones providing many focal points to encourage free imaginative play and explore all 7 areas of learning.

  • Quiet area with soft cushions to relax, look at books and chill out.
  • Home corner to encourage role play and friendship building.
  • Construction area.
  • Sand, water and creative play.
  • Computer and IT area.
  • Small world area.
  • Circle time, getting together area.

Children have access to a separate toilet room with small toilets and sinks.  Nursery Staff promote independence, children begin to go to the toilet on their own accord, with assistance at hand if needed.

When children reach the end of pre-school we aim for them to have a basic knowledge of numbers, writing, reading, early science and ICT abilities and the independence, social skills and enthusiasm for learning to thrive in the future.

Outdoor play areas

In addition to our indoor space, we have access to several outdoor play areas.

  • Probably our most unique feature is the unlimited access to Hatton Adventure Farm. Daily, all of our children have the chance to explore all of the fun and excitement of the farm attractions.
  • Our Toddler and Pre-School rooms have direct access onto our large secure outdoor balcony. The balcony is covered in artificial soft grass and gives us a wonderful option to set up outdoor classrooms and activities.
  • We have our own separate play activity area to the front of the Nursery with grassed areas, climbing frames and hard standing for mobility toys. The area is shaded by trees in the summer, ideal for our youngest children.
  • Adjacent to the Nursery building is our own Forest School activity area. The wooded area is surrounded by a secure fence and is left pretty much to nature with wild plants and flowers and lot’s of mud for our mud kitchen.
