Hatton Children’s Nursery is a place where every child has the opportunity to gain the very best start in life, we have a dedicated team of early years practitioners who deliver the best early years learning.
Our nursery is child centred in a welcoming environment supported in small groups by their keyworkers. The early years are crucial to a child’s development where the foundations upon a future of learning, independence, and the very first friendships are created and formed.
Set amidst a perfect backdrop of the countryside our environment is unique, set in a countryside location within the heart of Hatton Country World. We offer children endless days of discovery meeting our farm animals daily, being able to pick sunflowers from the field, take home handpicked strawberries, daffodils, potatoes, and pumpkins from our fields! Where else can your child take home eggs from chickens they’ve helped look after? We are incredibly proud of our setting and the foundation it provides to children, the wonderful adventures and stories they can go home to talk about to parents sharing such wonderful days and memories.
All children are naturally curious and are explorers from birth, they follow their natural instincts, this is their gift through which they start to make sense of the world around them and develop as individuals. We understand this and make every effort to nurture this characteristic by offering a varied and stimulating play-based curriculum of activities – as big as a child’s imagination. We recognise that every child is unique, and we plan activities based upon individual interest and needs.
From the moment your child joins us we work hard to ensure their time with us is filled with happy, active, engaging, and fun experiences, supporting their development, care and always learning needs.
Our nursery follows The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which sets the statutory standards that all Early Years providers must meet. It is the law and defines how and what your child will be learning to give them a firm foundation for a successful start at school.
The EYFS defines 7 areas of Learning and Development. Younger children usually develop in the 3 prime areas first. These are: Communication and Language, Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. As they grow older, children expand on the prime areas helping them to develop skills in 4 specific areas: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Hatton Adventure Farm also has a curriculum linked education programme for Foundation, KS1 and KS2 pupils and since 2010 has welcomed over 50,000 school children to experience and learn about life in the countryside.
There are 4 guiding principles that shape practice in an Early Years setting these are:
- Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured.
- Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
- Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents.
- Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.
During this stage of your child’s life, your child will be learning new skills, gaining new knowledge, and demonstrating their understanding through the seven areas of learning and development that are outlined within the Birth to 5 Matters framework which is embedded within the Hatton Children’s Nursery.
Children should mostly develop in the three prime areas first. These are:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
Your child’s development will be recorded via their own personal learning journey which will be completed each session by your child’s keyworker. We believe one of our strengths is the open and honest close partnership with parents.
